The Winner of the Free Critique for Pub Subbing in February is Steve Mathison(#PubSub3rdFri)

Small Badge Pub Sub 3rd Fri

The Winner of the FREE Critique for a Pub Subbing in February is Steve Mathison. Congratulations, Steve. Please send me your whole picture book, a magazine article, or  5 pages of a different kind of different kind of manuscript and attach it as a Microsoft Word Document. Please give me ten questions for me to answer about your manuscript.

There were five people who told me they submitted a manuscript during February in a comment to the February PubSub3rdFri blog post. Steve was the third person. Random.org chose number three  out of the five people who qualified.

Those who didn’t win the free critique are still winners because you believed in yourself and submitted your work!

If you submit during March, comment on the March PubSub3rdFri post and try again to win a free critique from me.

Contests:

1. Win a free paperback copy of Flip Flap Floodle or a 1001 Ways to Market Your Books by John Kremer by being the 50th person to sign up for an email subscription from the “Sign me up” block at the top of the left hand column. When you click on the email subscription link, if you have a WordPress blog, it lists your blog. If not, it lists your email address.   I have 35 people signed up now as of today.

2. For a chance to win a free critique and to definitely be put on the Pub Subbers 2011 page, submit your work then leave a comment below with title of project, name of contest, publisher, editor, or agent; date you submitted, sent by email or snail mail, your name, and your personal blog/website.

3. If you want to be put on the  Pub Subbers 2010 list, please email me at the address listed in the left-hand column with your name and blog/website before April 1, 2011. If you don’t have a blog/website, I’ll just list your name. I’ll choose a Pub Subber 2010 list  member at random to win a free critique  on April 1, 2011 and announce it at noon EST.

  2. Joan, thank you so much for the free critique. You did an excellent job. This was an early story of mine that I wrote as an extension of some stories written by Dr. J.C. Brumfield for the Radio Kids radio show that was on the air from the mid forties to the mid-sixties. My father in law was the music director of the show. Dr. B (as Dr. Brumfield was called) wrote stories about kids that took being a Christian seriously and really tried to live it out in their daily lives. As a result they had lots of great adventures. I started a series inspired by those stories using the granddaughter of one of the original characters as my new main character. Your help in critiquing my story will help me get these characters out to a newer and wider audience.

    • Dear Steve,
You’re very welcome. I’m glad that you found my free critique helpful. What an interesting story about Dr. J.C. Brumfield for the Radio Kids program. Good luck with getting your quality characters published and into the hands and hearts of children who will enjoy them. Do something good for you!
