How Often Should You Submit a Manuscript? (PubSub3rdFri)

“How Often Should You Submit a Manuscript? (PubSub3rdFri)”

Make submitting your manuscripts a habit. If you have one manuscript, submitting it to a different editor and a different agent once a month for six months. This will get you started in a regular pattern for submitting. It’ll become a habit.

Then if you have two manuscripts, you can submit the first one on the first Friday of the month and submit the second one on the third Friday of the month.

If you have three manuscripts, you can submit manuscript one on the first Friday, Manuscript Two on the second Friday, and Manuscript Three on the third Friday.  Submit each one to one editor and one agent.  The point is to submit quality manuscripts and articles as often as you feel comfortable working them into a quality format for submission.

Many editors and agents allow electronic submissions. Many prefer sending it through the US Postal Service. Follow their guidelines.  You’ll figure out the best plan for you. I’m only offering suggestions and trying to inspire you to do it because you see the way to get it done.

Below are three charts that might help you.

  1. Hi Joan,

    In other words…submit, submit, submit!

Thanks for helping us to see submitting as purposeful and organized, using a method that works for each individual.
