My Website: http://www.joanyedwards.com has devotionals, crossword/wordsearch puzzles, and skits for Children’s Liturgy each Sunday of all three liturgical years.

In January, 2011 Roxie’s Blog put me in the Writer’s Spotlight at http://wp.me/pBU4R-BG. Thank you, Roxie.

On October 23, 2012 Jen Veldhuyzen featured me as a guest on her PetrePan blog: http://petrepan.blogspot.com/2012/10/author-interview-with-joan-y-edwards.html. Thank you, Jen.

On November 25, 2012 Linda Martin Andersen asked me to share how I told stories to my family when I was a little girl. What a great way to celebrate 100 subscribers! I  hope you’ll stop and read about my taking hot dogs to school for my sister’s class:  http://lindamartinandersen.wordpress.com/2012/11/25/its-family-stories-month-meet-joan-y-edwards-an-author-who-has-been-telling-stories-since-she-was-a-child/. Thank you, Linda.

On my 73rd birthday, January 11, 2013, Linda Martin Andersen put a surprise blog post up in my honor. It’s called, “A Duck is a Duck is a Duck–The Duck Test:” http://lindamartinandersen.wordpress.com/2013/01/11/a-duck-is-a-duck-is-a-duck-the-duck-test/. Thank you again, Linda.

On January 22, 2013 Susan Hornbach posted a review of Flip Flap Floodle on her Bag Full of Books 4 Kids blog: http://bagfullofbooks4kids.blogspot.com/.  Thank you very much, Susan.

On November 19, 2013 Becky Shillington put her interview with me in her Industry Spotlight on her blog: http://beckyshillington.blogspot.com/2013/11/industry-spotlight-joan-y-edwards.html

On September 28, 2012 I presented a “Blogging Basics” workshop at the SCBWI-Carolinas Conference. This answered a dream of mine to present a live workshop at that conference. It was awesome.

Here are titles of other workshops I taught for writers groups, Muse Writers Online Conference, or Catholic Writers Conference Online.

  1. Building Your Platform (websites, blogs).
  2. One Way to Achieve Goals, Get Rid of Problems, and/or Make the Right Decisions.
  3. Adding Positive Sounds, Words, and Beliefs to Your Subconscious Mind
  4. Where to Begin Your Story
  5. Scripting Your Biography
  6. Can Your Faith Be Seen?
  7. PubSub3rdFri
  8. 20 Ways to Correct, Trim, and Enhance Your Manuscript
  9. Believe – Submit Your Manuscript (Pub Sub)
  10. Practice Your Pitch on Me
  11. 30 Ways to Correct, Trim, and Enhance Your Manuscript
  12. How to Write a Pitch That Sells

After I did the Practice Your Pitch on Me workshop for the March 2012 Catholic Writers Conference Online, they requested that I come back and do a workshop a week before the regular conference session on writing a pitch in 2013. This was because almost everyone who participated in my workshop got a “YES, I’d love to see your manuscript” when they pitched their manuscripts to the publishers during the conference.  I did a similar workshop for 2012 Muse Writers Online Conference. Writers there encouraged me to do a game similar to what I did during a chat session. Now I am forming: Pitch Corner, USA for writers to study pitches and learn how to get a pitch that sells. You’ll see more about that on my website. Another Catholic Writers Conference Online is scheduled for 2014.

I am in the midst of editing my screenplay, “Against All Odds.” I’m working on the lyrics and music for the 18+ songs.

In February 2012 I entered the Amazon contest for Young Adult Novels. I won to the second level with the Pitch for my Historical Fiction book, Immigrant Heart. Even though, it did not go to the next level of competition, it was heart-warming to get that far.  In 2012 I had it professionally edited by Dr. Bob Rich and am revising it.

I am currently taking Hal Croasmun’s ProSeries 48 Screenwriting Course from Screenwriting U – Six months of great lessons.

Thanks for visiting my Never Give Up blog.

  7. Hi Joan,

I was reading the blog “Escaping the Inkwell” today and noticed a comment from you on one of the posts. Your name sounded familiar so to be sure I checked out your link and saw that I was right and you are a presenter at the Muse Conference with 4RV Publishing.

Although I won’t be active in your workshop I already decided to check it out when I can because I’m sure there is much that will be shared that will help me improve as a writer.

    • Dear Marsha,
Thanks for leaving a comment and for being a follower. I am honored by your presence here. Now I have 89 followers…heading to 100 so we can have a mammoth celebration.
I enjoy “Escaping the Inkwell” blog. Glad my name sounded familiar to you and that you discovered you were right. I definitely am a presenter at the Muse Conference with 4RV Publishing forum and in the main forum, too. One editing workshop, 30 Ways to Correct, Trim, and Enhance Your Manuscript and the other is about How to Write a Pitch That Sells
Hope you will check them out. If you leave an evaluation at the link in the handouts and put your name and email address in box 9, you’ll receive a free gift and a chance to win a free pitch and 1000 word manusript critique.
